Bungoma

Bungoma town is bordered by Uganda to the west and it serves as the headquarters of Bungoma County. Major attractions in Bungoma include the Chetambe’s Fort built by Chetambe Ifile (a Tachoni warrior from where he mobilized his troops to resist colonial rule) and Nabuyole Falls 1km away from Chetambe’s Fort on Nzoia River.

Bungoma is also home to the Kakapel Museum which has prehistoric rock art dating 2000 and 4000 years back depicting wild animals, rainmaking and initiation symbols. The Museum is situated at the Chelemuk hills and is managed by Trust for African Rock Art (TARA) and the National Museums of Kenya.
