Kakamega
Kakamega town lies about 30km north of the equator and 52km north of Kisumu. The
town is also the headquarters of Kakamega County and is currently the second most
populous county after Nairobi.
Kakamega’s attraction sites include the Crying stone of llesi (a stone perpetually
in tears flowing from ‘head to toe’), and Kakamega Forest National Reserve home
to over 400 species of butterflies, about 300 bird species and 27 species of snakes.
Bull fighting, a very important cultural sport among the Kakamega people has also
become a wide attraction for many.
