Attractions

The Park has the second largest population of black rhinos in Africa and is home to the near extinct mountain Bongo. The only place where so much noise can bring relaxation is the raging Thompsons, Karuru fall, Magura falls and Chania waterfalls, where clear streams flow into rivers with ease, in juxtaposition with the Lesatima and Kinangop peaks overlooking the vegetation below.

The view of the moorland stretch that stops at the foot of the elephant hills and the table Mountains attracts the inquisitive minds of geologists and laymen alike.

Access to Aberdare

Found in central part of Kenya where the former ‘white highlands’ were situated, it is in close proximity with Mount Kenya to the west and 180 km from Nairobi . The park is easily accessible by road but airstrips are also available.

The roads in the park make movement easier in the park’s soggy conditions. The park can be easily reached from Nyeri town . It is advisable to use 4WD vehicle when visiting the Aberdare.
