Ecosystem

Birdwatchers can bring heaven down to their eyes with the numerous species of birds available; the superior hunting skills of the king fisher and the African fish eagle surpasses imagination. A must see list includes the bee-eater, the marital eagle, and the pygmy eagle. There are more than 900 elephants in the Amboseli. A number of giraffe, caracal, buffalo, wild dog, lion, hippo, gerenuk, and impala are found.

Climate

The park has a hot and dry climate because it lies in the leeward side of the mountain Kilimanjaro. At an altitude of 3900-4500ft it experiences temperatures of 27°-33° degrees. The tropical sunshine also exposes one to sunburn and heat stroke. Take enough water and sunscreen lotion. The two rainy seasons (April-May) and November-December) bring an annual rainfall of 300 mm.
