Kenya Vacations
Ecosystem
Arabuko Sokoke national
park is the untold story of Tropical jungle escapade. The
wealthy bird diversity of this enchanting complex of aves includes
six species; the Sokoke pipit, scops owl, Clark's weaver, Spotted Ground Thrush,
East Coast Akalat, and Amanu sunbird. The region’s ancient trees
still provide firewood, medicines, poles, timber and carving wood to the natives
and still supply that vital relief rainfall. The Mida Creek hosts a variety of rare
species of butterfly, while the Ader's duikers that went extinct
in Zanzibar Island are amazingly found here. At the Gedi ruins, the yellow/golden-rumped
elephant Shrew and the rare Sokoke bush-tailed mongoose co-exist concordally
though it takes a bit of patience to notice them.
Climate
The long rains fall between April-July and short rains between October-November.
The diurnal temperature ranges are 22.0 º C-29.5 º C though global warming has significantly
altered this pattern. Carry plenty of water just incase you get all heated up and
sweaty.
