Central Kenya

The central region of Kenya was referred to as the "white highland" during the Kenya's colonial era. Many white settles settled in this region due to the fertile soils and pleasant weather around Mount Kenya and the Aberdare ranges. The biggest town in this area is Nyeri, which is located about 2 hours drive from Nairobi. Nyeri is the head quarters for central province and Nyeri district. The MauMau rebellion was started in the thick Aberdare forest, which is located few minutes from Nyeri town. Major attraction around this place include; Aberdare National Park , Mount Kenya, Baden Powel museum, Thomson falls in Nyahururu, Meru National park , Mwea National reserve and Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park.
