Breathtaking views from the Chyulu hills trance the mind, the reason why they can
find their way as framed photos in your study. Cave exploration
is very engaging here and a reserve of the hardhearted but you are welcome to try.
The reserve cradles a mountain range that mingles volcanic cones,
Barren lava flows and caves into an arroyo. A dry forest belt surrounding the mountain
makes the well-sculptured peaks of the hills seem like a Jurassic park larger than
life to defy climbers.
Wishes are horses but only in Chyulu Reserve. Horse riding , walks
and hikes along the volcanic charred tracks of the reserve can
be addictive, depending on the enthusiasm and ebullience of the tourist. Those interested
in cave exploration can have archeological and geographical
safaris arranged while those who are aesthetic can openly imbibe the
beauty atop the Chyulu hills.
Access Chyulu hills
The reserve has a gate 10km off the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. Look
out for the park’s sign post 1km past the Kibwezi turn off. Being
190 km away from Nairobi ,
Chyulu National Reserve has limited road network within the park and only 4WD
vehicles with high ground clearance can maneuver the rough sections.
