Kenya Vacations
Ecosystem
Chyulu Hills National Reserve is an ace of exotic snakes. The smooth Black Mamba,
ferocious Puff Adder and the fatal Rock Python
feast on rodents. The smell of Dung rolling beetles fills the air just above the
ground and if you happen to look above the eagle and Tsetse fly
perambulation of the sky above presents a classical case of nature’s malevolence
against the prey. The presence of Buffalos, Bushbucks, and Elands,
should send word round that the Leopards and other carnivores are
not far behind. It would be idiosyncratic to talk about forests without citing the
Chyulu Hills Mountain Forest, an imposing thicket that gives way
to patches of mountain forest dawning ficus and orchid trees in a mammoth congregation
of trees.
Climate
With an annual rainfall of 300mm per year, the park is like a dehydrated
camel. With an altitude of 5000 to 6000 feet, the climate here should be hot and
very wet but is ironically very dry and hardly rains. Dress light
and have loads of water with you!
