Lake Bogoria National Park
Not even a double edged sword could disturb the calm waters of Lake Bogoria,
which form an integral part of The Lake Bogoria National Park,
world famed for its immutable beauty and contagious hospitality.
The hills dominated by the lush riverine forests and dry bush/grass land surround
Lake Bogoria, reflecting searing blue skies and the rose pink of flamingos darting
around, is an exceptional site par excellence. To tickle the imagination and curiosity
of ornithologists, there are at least 135 known species of birds.
The intriguing showcase of blue green algae forms a ‘natural blanket’ that makes
Lake Bogoria National park a bitter rival of Lake Nakuru . The algae attract and romanticize thousands
of flamingos every migratory season, a beguiling and lovable phenomenon.
All that water body that is Lake Bogoria, settling in approximately 197km2 of rich
rift valley soil puts Lake Bogoria high in the list of prestigious places in the
northern region of the Kenyan Rift. A 260 km drive from Nairobi gets you to the park but if time is of the essence,
a 20 minute hop from Nairobi’s Wilson airport will land you at Lake Bogoria
airstrip 25 kms south of Baringo town. As you sign the guest book you
will realize that you are not the first visitor. The first came in November 1970
when Lake Bogoria National Park was launched.
Best Time to Visit
