The imposing Mt. Longonot National Park sitting on the Great Rift Valley is home to unique flora and fauna. Attracting the attention of adventure seekers across the universe, the park boasts of a range of animals including the giraffe, monkeys, chimps, a variety of birds and insects. It has a thick riverine forest capsulated in the creepy undergrowth and interlaced with a sash of low trees and a highland dry forest with broken bush and scattered acacia plants. If animals such as buffalos, gazelles, felines and impalas could speak, they would only say ‘paradise’.


Climate

The climate is hot and dry. Annual rainfall falling between 510 to 760mm. Even then, rainfall reliability is poor and unpredictable. The annual mean temperature is usually from 26 to 30 degrees centigrade. Altitude varies from 6,000-7,000ft.
