Black rhinos rest peacefully in the only place they deem home in the park. The annual wildebeest migration and zebra in July and august is only outclassed by the Serengeti-Masai Mara migration . Evident is the heavy presence of the big five game following large herbivores such as the eland, buffalo and zebra in an area overlooking the city's skyscrapers. There is over 400 species of documented bird life. A visit to the Orphanage and nature trails at hippos pool might be a tall order, which is why there are plenty of picnic sites incase you want to relax from exhaustion. At the ivory burning site in the park is erected a monument to signify the commitment of the government to ending poaching that was rampant in the 1980s.

Access to Nairobi Nat. Park

The park is only 7km from the city centre . All roads are tarmacked and the Langata road provides the most convenient access route. There are seven park gates, the main gate being at the KWS headquarters: the Mbagathi and Banda gates are not open to the public. There are no airstrips in the park but the nearby Wilson and JKIA airports can serve.
