Ecosystem

Open grass plains with speckled acacia bush take over the rich green widespread land, which has an upland jungle dry forest on the western side, with a permanent river and a riverine forest in the south. There are stretches of conked out bush country and deep rocky valleys with gorges and scrub. Man made dams have added an extra territory and attract water reliant herbivores during the dry season. There are over 400 species of seasonal birds and 80 animal species, migrating in and out of the park but where to? The Athi kapiti/kitengela migration and dispersal region lies in the south of Nairobi National park . This is the animals' best-kept secret wherein the dispersal and migration region lies.

Climate

At a height of between1533m and 1760m above sea level the park experiences the cold season in June-July with range of 19-28 degrees. The rainy season comes in the early March and April; the best time of visiting the park is during the July-August months.
