Kenya Vacations
Sibiloi National Park
The Sibiloi national park is situated in the most remote region of Kenya bordering the hot dry and windy Lake Turkana region, but yet remains one of the
most easily accessible parks in Kenya, thanks to its unchanging weather pattern.
A remnant of a once rich forest is evident in the petrified vegetation around which
a large variety of wildlife and birds inhabit.
Covering approximately 1570km2 and a distance of 900kms from Nairobi , the Sibiloi national park is also a product
of the national museums
of Kenya initiative to preserve vital historic and archeological sites,
especially the cradle of mankind, believed to be the area around Koobi Fora. Fossils
of crocodiles, giant tortoise, and elephants have been found in this dry semi desert
bush, broken only with the alkaline waters of the lake.
Best time to visit
Sibiloi National park can be visited at any time in the year. Located in the hot
and dry Turkana district, the park is characterised by high temperatures through
out the year.
