The Fort Jesus swimming Gala is an antique in disguise, not for sale but owned by
the brave at heart who each year brave the violent ocean currents to swim the opposite
creek. The most publicized sports event in the Kenyan coast and the only one held around a museum
the swimming gala takes place around the fort Jesus museum , more
than 5 centuries old , the envy of long dead sultans and Portuguese army men who
fought over what would be their very grave. Swimming being a favorite sport for
many dwellers, the open swimming competition invites all swimmers from anywhere
in the world across a 20 mile stretch and the fasKenya Vacations swimmer takes the cake. This
happens during the month of July when the tide is favorable and many people enjoying
their summer holidays can visit Kenya. The sport attracts over
200 swimmers every year and entry fee is 350 euros for foreigners.
