Ecosystem

Tsavo east is mostly savannah bush land and semi arid, interlaced with the bushy grassland and open plains, forming an intricate pattern of rough -smooth vegetation. The dense riverine vegetation in the West with rainfall about 450mm per annum is cool. The dry Eastern end is punished with only 250mm per year but thick with acacia. The Northern part is less dense also receiving 250mm per year. South of the river Galana, man, fire and elephants have decimated the bush land into dry open grassland. The animals in the park are so many; mentioning each one would make the actual visit boring. However, outstanding are: Aardwolf, Genet, Hartebeest, several species of zebra and the big five game.

Climate

Don`t hold your breath. The hot and dry conditions do not change all year round; always have a bottle of water nearby. The park is 229-2438m above the sea level; the temperature ranges from 23° to 35° degrees. There are two main rainy seasons: the first between April and May and the other between October and December. The best time of travel is around June and July.
