Lake Baringo in Kenya

Lake Baringo is endowed with a sheer variety of wildlife (including the largest variety of goliath heron in East Africa found in the rocky Isle of Gibraltar) and is surrounded by volcanic ranges that stretch as far as the eye can see. The lake can be accessed directly from Nakuru by bus or private transport.

The lakefs chocolate waters (due to the soils in the region) change in tonality during the day depending on the color of the sky. A boat trip to Ol Kokwe Island in the middle of the lake is ideal for a glimpse at the local handcrafts and dances of the Njemps tribe, sighting birds, hippos, monitor lizards and plenty of crocodiles lying on water edges or swimming the shallows hunting waterfowl.
