Lake Bogoria in Rift Valley, Kenya
Lake Bogoria is situated 260kms from Nairobi and 25kms from the lake Baringo Airstrip, which Charter flights can use. Access to Bogoria is a diversion from the Nakuru - Baringo road via Marigat. However, Traveling by private transport is the best way as getting to the lake itself is very difficult as there is no public transport. .
The volcanically active lake is lined with spouting geysers and has around 200 hot springs at three onshore sites while the other hot springs discharge directly from the lake floor. The soda waters of the lake contain the blue -green algae which attracts massive flocks of flamingoes seasonally.
Lake Bogoriafs fresh water springs draw an abundance of birds and wildlife. Local features include the Siracho Escarpment, the Kesubo Swamp, shores lined with Gazelle, Zebra, Baboons, Fish Eagles preying on the Flamingoes and an opportunity to spot the majestic Greater Kudu.Activities that can be carried around the Lake include camping, boat rides, wildlife walks, camel walks, visiting the local Njemps village, having fun and baths around the Hot springs that provide a natural spa.
